The intention of this exhibition was to showcase the wide variety of ceramic art made in Savannah Georgia. The exhibition included functional and sculptural works representing a broad range of working and firing techniques. Savannah is a city that is increasingly becoming known as an arts hub, with a growing ceramics community. The exhibition was a follow up to Savannah Clay 2011 and Savannah Clay 2015. It includes the work of members of the Savannah Clay Community, a group of ceramic artist formed to build strength and support for all ceramicists and people with an interest in clay in Savannah through the education, exploration and promotion of the ceramic arts. Many of these artists have national recognition, this show will help to make their work known to the local community. The artists included have won such honors as an NEA grant, Ceramics Monthly emerging artist, NCECA emerging artist, and grants from various state arts councils.
