ERIC CLARK

QUICK FACTS

Years As An Artist
I have been interested in art from an early age, but I have been working in clay, almost exclusively for 7 years.
Main Clay Body
It depends on the finishing technique, but I do use a lot of light bodied stoneware.
Primary Clay Building Methods
I try to use a little bit of everything; I can't just choose one. Wheel-throwing, slip casting, and hand building.
Favorite Studio Tool
A small detail paintbrush for smoothing out marks made from tools.
Clay Wishes or Dreams
Keep making art and help inspire my students to pursue their dreams.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My current body of work springs from my fasciation with industry and the magic of the production process. The objects I create are made by hand and sculpted in clay. I strive to remove identifiable information about the process in which its made and, often, what material it was made from; this challenge continues to intrigue me and creates a sense of mystery about the object’s true origin. I have a growing interest in industrial aesthetics and the mass-production processes of food and everyday objects.
